Assemblywoman Michaelle C. Solages will host a free homeowner’s assistance workshop with SONYMA & LIHS in Valley Stream, NY.
New York State Assemblywoman Michaelle C. Solages (D-Elmont) will host a free workshop to discuss financial resources available for New York State Homeowners. The workshop will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the VFW Post 1790 located at 65 E Merrick Rd, Valley Stream, NY 11580.
This free workshop will highlight the State of New York Mortgage Agency’s (SONYMA) first homeownership programs, as well as, the Long Island Housing Services (LIHS) resources for forbearance, landlord/tenant issues, and more. SONYMA has two primary mortgage programs, Achieving the Dream and Low-Interest Rate. Both programs are designed to help folks find the home they’ve always wanted at a payment they can afford. SONYMA offers optional down payment assistance with all mortgage programs and all programs can be combined with other grants and subsidies.
“The state legislature has worked to enhance local and state resources to promote first-time home buyer programs as well as improve overall protections for residents. This forum will allow the community to learn more about some of the more obscure state programs that can have an outsized impact on their lives,” stated Assemblywoman Solages. All homeowners are encouraged to attend and learn about the resources available through New York State.”
Housing counselors will be present to answer any questions and concerns regarding mortgage relief. In addition, both SONYMA and the LIHS will be present to discuss alternative options available to families in need. For questions and further information, please contact the District Office of Assemblywoman Michaelle C. Solages at (516) 599-2972.
