ASSEMBLYMEMBER MICHAELLE C. SOLAGES ATTENDS PAKISTANI FLOOD RELIEF WALK

Assw. Solages joins local organizations to raise awareness of the floods devastating Pakistan.

VALLEY STREAM, NY (September 13, 2022) Assemblywoman Michaelle C. Solages attended a relief run with members of the local Pakistani community. The event, held at Valley Stream State Park, was organized by Children of Adam, Muslim Youth Mentors, Runners RX, and MEA (Muslim Entrepreneur Association), all organizations dedicated to enriching and empowering the lives of their community members.

The people of Pakistan are reeling from the effects of the torrential rain sustained in the country since June 2022. At this time nearly a third of the country is covered by flood waters. With over a thousand lives lost and millions more displaced, the devastation in Pakistan is impacting the lives of relatives in New York.

“It’s important to understand that what is happening in Pakistan is affecting folks here at home. It’s incredible seeing everyone come together to raise awareness and funds for people devastated by the floods in Pakistan. We have a vibrant Pakistani community here in the 22nd Assembly District. Know that you have my support and that we are in this together. Climate disasters are happening now, and we must do our part to help,” stated Assemblywoman Michaelle C. Solages.

“The local Pakistani community is heartbroken by the flooding and devastation that is occurring in their homeland. They have come together through local mosques, organizations, and other communities to help with the humanitarian crisis currently unfolding,” stated Abdul Rahman, a community organizer and member of MEA.
